Unveiling Mirror Mirror : A Genre-Blending Collaborative EP by Melbourne’s Own B3RGY and LNE
Out November 1, 2024

Melbourne, Australia - 2024 - Independent artists B3RGY and LNE are set to captivate listeners through sonic textures and lush melodies with Mirror Mirror, a joint EP releasing on November 1, 2024. A collaboration born from shared ambition and honed by years of friendship, Mirror Mirror embodies the duo’s evolving artistry, blending the grit of Australian rap with lush melodic elements in a release that captures the raw energy of their unique sound.

Crafted over late nights and countless sessions in a DIY studio space, Mirror Mirror is the culmination of a creative journey that began in a music production course and has been deepened through a mutual drive to push boundaries. The EP explores themes of self-reflection, duality, and growth, with each track offering a mirror into both the artists’ individual perspectives and their collective experiences.

At its core, Mirror Mirror is an invitation to listeners to step into a world of contrasts and cohesion—melding introspective verses with anthemic hooks, delicate harmonies with hard-hitting beats. Each track contributes to an immersive sonic landscape that moves between introspection and intensity, crafted with precision and unfiltered authenticity.

With B3RGY’s dynamic lyricism and LNE’s evocative vocal style, the EP offers something fresh for fans of both rap and melodic-driven music. Tracks on Mirror Mirror reveal a seamless blend of both artists’ influences, as they strike a balance between storytelling, technical skill, and raw emotional connection. The EP takes listeners through themes of identity, the pursuit of dreams, and navigating the challenges of both the music industry and personal growth.

Mirror Mirror will be available on all major streaming platforms on November 1, marking a pivotal release for two of Melbourne’s rising talents.

LNE

LNE has had music flowing through his veins since the day he was born

A Life Immersed in Music: Discovering His Own Sound

For LNE, it is more than just music—it’s the way he processes life. Raised in the rural Tweed Valley of Northern NSW, LNE (Lenny) grew up immersed in music with his seven siblings, busking at local festivals in The Perch Creek Family Jug Band. Yet, while those early years introduced him to performing, his deeper connection to music emerged through navigating the twists and turns of life’s struggles.

But LNE’s musical journey wasn’t just about early exposure—it was about discovering his unique sound and miking it his own. “Growing up in a musical family helped me trust my ear. If I didn’t like what I heard, I’d scrap it and start over until I created something I was proud of,” he reflects. His commitment to authenticity was shaped not only by his family’s influence but also by artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and, interestingly, Gotye.

THe Origin story

LNE’s first experiments with music happened on GarageBand, where, as a young kid, he played around with loops and recorded his own vocals. But even at that age, his depth as a lyricist was clear—he was processing big emotions and putting them into his songs. That continued through his troubled teenage years, when music became his escape.

“I didn’t have the easiest time in school,” LNE recalls. “I got into a lot of trouble, hung out with the wrong crowd. But leaving school at 14 gave me space to step away from that. Music became my therapy.” As LNE dived deeper into music production—especially after discovering Ableton Live—he started transforming his feelings of isolation and confusion into something listeners could connect with.

An Artist’s Journey: Blending Influences and Overcoming Challenges

Musically, LNE’s style is a genre-blending mix of influences. “I grew up on country, rock, blues, and folk, but I fell in love with hip-hop as a teen,” he says. “My sound is a mix of those worlds—country melodies, folk-inspired vocals, but with a hip-hop backbone. It’s hard to explain, but it’s the truest expression of me.” After years of balancing those influences, the music he makes today showcases a sound that’s both raw and refined.

And while LNE is proud of where he’s at, it wasn’t an easy road to get here. Life has thrown me some curveballs, but I always knew I’d get to the other side,” he shares. “It’s not just music; it’s my story. I hope people listen to it and feel what I felt when I wrote it.”

Whats Next?

Looking forward, LNE has big plans. “This EP is just the start,” he says. “There’s more music in the vault, and I’m ready to start releasing it. I want to jump back into performing live shows, and get these songs out there in the way they deserve to be heard.”

For LNE, the upcoming EP marks the beginning of a new chapter—one defined by resilience, honesty, and a commitment to sharing his story with the world. As he steps into the spotlight, his music is poised to resonate with anyone who’s ever faced a challenge and found solace in a song.

B3RGY

More than Music:

B3rgy’s unique path to his first ep

For B3RGY, music has been more than just a hobby—it’s something he’s been obsessed with since high school, and now it’s all come together in his collaborative debut EP. “I started making beats when I first heard Bones in 2014, and it was like someone flipped a switch in my brain. I had to do this,” he recalls. But getting to this point hasn’t been easy or fast.

This EP isn’t just another project—it’s the result of years of late nights, endless experimentation, and grinding to carve out his own sound. “I’ve been at this for nearly ten years, but this is the first time I feel like I’ve come closer to finding my voice,” he says. And for B3RGY, that voice is all about embracing his roots and accent—something he struggled with early on. “It took me a while to be comfortable with my sound, especially vocally. But now, it’s a part of my character.”

Crafting the EP: A Story of Growth

B3RGY’s journey to this EP is one of both musical and personal growth. His creative process has always been about pushing through discomfort—whether it was the initial hesitation to rap on his own beats or the late nights spent figuring out how to blend his eclectic influences.

Everything changed when his close friends, fellow artists LNE, rapper guttasnipe, and Patrelic, convinced him to step behind the mic. “Up until then, I was strictly making beats. I’d tell my friends, ‘This beat is good, but I could never rap on that,’” he explains. “They pushed me to just try it, and that’s when things started to click.”

A huge part of B3RGY’s evolution came from the support system he built along the way. “Living with LNE in Coburg was a game changer. That’s when I became B3RGY,” he says. The name B3RGY has deep personal meaning. “Coburg, or ‘the Berg,’ represents where I formed the sound I’m working with now and made some of the most important music of my life. ‘B3RGY’ is me stepping out of the shadow of self-doubt. The ‘3’ is a nod to Victoria’s area code, and it just looks fresh. But the ‘iceberg’ part? That’s how I’ve felt about my music for a while—cold, emotional, and mostly unseen, beneath the surface.”

The Grind Behind the Sound

Writing, recording, and producing this EP didn’t come without challenges. B3RGY juggles the everyday realities of life, working a 9-to-5 to fund his music while still finding time to create. “Working a regular job isn’t something you usually hear about when you think of artists, but it’s the reality for most of us. It keeps me grounded. I work, I come home, and then I go into ‘beat mode.’”

In the studio—nicknamed ‘the Igloo’—B3RGY’s process is anything but predictable. “I’ll get distracted, watch some weird documentary on YouTube, and then, boom—I’m inspired and back to making beats,” he laughs. His setup is simple: Fruity Loops for the beats, Ableton for the vocals. “I’ve been using FL Studio for years, so the second my hands touch the keyboard, it just flows. Writing lyrics is different though—still something I’m working on mastering. It’s all about making sure the lyrics fit with the drop or the breakdown. Everything has to fit like a puzzle.”

Pushing Through…

Despite the creative highs, there have been plenty of low points. “There were times I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get this EP finished,” he admits. “But then I’d remind myself that I’m doing this because I have to—it’s just who I am.”

B3RGY’s hard work has paid off. His local shows in Ballarat, which started with just friends and mutuals, eventually led to support slots for Australian rap heavy hitters like Drapht, Ivan Ooze, and Philla. “Playing live taught me so much. It’s awkward at first, but eventually, you learn what works and how to connect with the crowd. I’ve come a long way since those early shows, but I’m still working on it.”

What This EP Represents

At its core, this EP is about perseverance and finding one’s true self. It’s B3RGY’s way of laying everything on the table—his journey, his influences, his sound. “I’ve always been perceived as extraverted, but this EP is me opening up more. It’s raw, it’s fun, but it’s also personal.”

For those listening, B3RGY hopes they’ll hear not just the beats, but the story behind them. “I want people to feel what I’ve been through. This isn’t just about making music—it’s about capturing the highs, the lows, the doubts, and the breakthroughs.”

What’s Next for B3RGY?

“I’m only just getting started,” B3RGY says, a grin spreading across his face. “There’s a lot more to come, and I can’t wait to just have it out there.” Whether it’s more live shows, new collaborations, or surprise releases, B3RGY’s journey is far from over.
